Supposedly Julius Davis and William Morgan thought that it would be a good idea to "swap" wives and swap wives they did, without any legal formalities. The trade stood only on their agreement. Loveday had 8 children by Julius
Davis and 4 children by William Morgan. The 4 children by William were: Birch Morgan, Kiser Morgan, Asa Morgan & Lane Morgan.

In August 1902, Eli Davis & John Richardson's wife had thing going, so Eli & John's wife thought they would eliminate John. Eli went to John's house with an axe and the intent to kill John, but John heard someone coming in his house and he pulled out his gun and shot & killed Eli. Needless to say John & his wife (I don't know her name) divorced and John married a full sister of Eli's. Eli's half brother Lane Morgan made the comment after John killed Eli that "I'll kill John Richardson with the same gun he killed Eli with". Well, one day in March 1903, Lane Morgan, Kiser Morgan and Allen
Richardson went to the home of Marshall Pittman (where John was employed as a farm hand) Lane shot and killed John. (whether it was with the same gun or not, I don't know). Prior to John Richardson killing Eli Davis and Lane Morgan killing John Richardson, according to a newspaper article in the Asheboro courier, in May 1902 Birch & Asa Morgan had killed a man by the name of E H Reager. They killed Reager on the simple fact, Reager had called the house of Asa Morgan and asked the way to a house of "ill repute" aka whorehouse in the neighborhood. I am assuming Asa thought Reager was implying Loveday. All this came out in the trial of Asa and Birch Morgan. Birch actually did the killing and he was sentenced to 30 years, Asa was sentenced to 12 years and Lane Morgan was sentenced to 30 years for killing John Richardson. Lane and Birch escaped from prison and remained at large for a few months, but they were later captured in February 1904.
