      Mr. John Jones, the father of sheriff, S.M. Jones, died Sep 4th at 9 o'clock pm in his 87th year. Mr. Jones had lived an up right and industrious life and enjoyed the respect and esteem of everybody. He was one of the oldest masons of this section and was buried in the Presbyterian cemetery Sep 5th with Masonic honors.
