      John Thomas Pearce was born in Brower township, Randolph county, on February 2, 1846, and died at Lexington, Davidson county, on June 18, 1919. As a young man, John Thomas moved to Silver Hill township, Davidson county, to work in the mine there. In 1870 at Silver Hill, Davidson county, he married Ancelet Foushee, daughter of Ira and Emaline Foushee. Ancelet was born in Chatham county around March 1836 and died at Silver Hill, Davidson county, October 23, 1911 and they lie buried in the Foushee family burying ground at Silver Hill. John and Ancelet (Foushee) Pearce had three children; viz., William Walter, Mary Edith, and Sarah Emily.
