Neal L Melton born May 1873 in Sheffield Township, Moore County, North Carolina; died 25 Oct 1930 in Covington, Ala. He was married to Annie or Fannie Barlow (1897-bef 1930) and had son Clayton Melton born abt Dec 1909. As far as I can tell, Neal never owned property. I traced him through censuses. 1880 w/parents in Moore County, NC.; 1900 Hill (later Biscoe), Montgomery County as a boarder w/Ira Freeman; 1910 Lakewood, Walton, Fla as a renter w/wife Fannie Melton (age 17 to his 37) and son Clayton (age 4/12); 1920 Raxton, Walton, Fla. w/wife Fannie and son Clayton (Fannie and Clayton do not show up again); 1930 in Watkins, Covington, Ala as a boarder. Alabama Death Certificate list him as widowed upon his death 25 Oct 1930 and his deseased wife as Annie Barlow Melton. He was buried in Children's Home Cemetary in Walton County, Fla 28 Oct 1930. The assumption might be that Clayton at age 20 was still in Florida.
