He died in 1945 in a railroad accident in Richmond, Virginia, when I was about 17 months old. He is buried in Riverview Cemetary in Richmond. My mother's name is Florence Emily Eckert Maness. She was born in Portsmouth Virginia in 1911 and passed away in 1993 in Richmond. She is buried in Dale Memorial Cemetary in Chesterfield County, VA (suburb of Richmond) next to her second husband, Floyd Evans Maness, son of George Maness who was my father's brother. Mother and Daddy (Floyd) had one son, Larry Evans Maness. John Maness' mother, Louisa, was to the best of my knowledge a Brewer. My family always referred to her husband (my grandfather) as what sounded like Elec; however, I think they were saying Alec. I think his name was Alexander S. Maness, born 1846 and died in 1924, both in North Carolina. John had siblings named Julia, Mary, Sarah, George (Floyd's father), James, and Lydia.
