Rufus A. Stutts died 15 Apr 1917 in Washington. An item in "The Washington Times",( Apr. 16, 1917, pg. 12)reports his death due to monoxide gas poisoning; thought to be from a faulty water heater. He is buried in the Congressional Cemetery in Washington along with his wife , Annie J. Curry, who passed away 18 Sep 1934.
